On Tuesday, Baltimore County Police Department Aviation unit, in collaboration with Baltimore County Fire Department and the National Guard, worked together to extinguish a fire in the Loch Raven Reservoir Watershed area. The incident marked the Aviation unit’s utilization of the recently acquired “Bambi,” capable of holding over 200 gallons of water. Demonstrating coordinated efforts, the team conducted more than 20 water drops to combat the fire while ensuring the safety of ground firefighters.
The Bambi, procured by Aviation from Volo Mission earlier this year, proved instrumental in the operation. Andre Hutchins, the unit’s instructor, supervised members during real-time application and provided training on its effective deployment. The partnership displayed the seamless integration of resources, showcasing the unit’s expertise in leveraging new equipment for swift and effective firefighting responses.
The successful collaborative effort underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in addressing emergency situations. With advanced equipment and specialized training, Baltimore County’s emergency response teams demonstrated their preparedness and ability to tackle challenging scenarios. The utilization of the Bambi highlights the commitment to enhancing operational capabilities and ensuring the safety of both personnel and the local community.
