Gaithersburg woman's lucky mistake leads to double Lottery wins

A woman from Gaithersburg, Montgomery County, known by her nickname “Feedie,” surprised Maryland Lottery officials by showing up with two third-tier winning tickets, each worth $100,000. “Feedie,” a newcomer to Powerball, shared her remarkable experience with the Lottery team. She opted to play Powerball at two different locations for the drawing held on April 10.

Having bought two tickets from the Giant grocery store on Goshen Road and two more from Goshen Plaza Beer & Wine on Rothbury Drive, “Feedie” discovered that her second ticket, purchased a day earlier than the drawing, was mistakenly entered by the retailer, including the Power Play and Double Play options. Despite the error, the player decided to keep the ticket.

Several days after the draw, prompted by her daughter, “Feedie” checked her tickets through the Maryland Lottery app. To her amazement, the first ticket had won her $100,000 due to the Power Play feature. Although the second and third tickets were not winners, the fourth ticket, with the retailer’s error, also secured a $100,000 prize at the third tier, thanks to the doubled winnings from the Power Play.

Overwhelmed by her unexpected windfall, “Feedie” expressed her disbelief at her newfound luck. The fortunate player, whose second-ever attempt at playing Powerball brought her significant winnings, shared her joy with just her daughter and mother for the time being. As she ponders her next steps, “Feedie” plans to either save or invest her newly acquired funds.
