Search Warrant Leads to Arrest of Fugitive Boston Carjacker

Romello McCain, 18, of Boston, was arrested by members of the Youth Violence Strike Force and detectives assigned to District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) at approximately 3:51 PM on Thursday. McCain was apprehended in the vicinity of 2 East Brookline Street based on a warrant issued by the Brighton District Court for various charges, including armed carjacking, robbery, and assault.

During the arrest, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at the same location, leading to the discovery of a Glock 9mm ten round magazine, ammunition, and cash amounting to around $367. McCain is anticipated to face arraignment at the Brighton District Court in connection with the charges brought against him.

The arrest of McCain is linked to an incident that occurred on April 2, 2024, at approximately 11:39 PM, where officers from District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to reports of an armed carjacking on Goodenough Street. According to reports, two suspects brandishing firearms coerced the victim to surrender their possessions, including a vehicle and personal belongings valued at $1,300. Subsequent investigations led detectives to locate the stolen vehicle abandoned in the vicinity of 14 Greenwich Park.
