St. Mary’s County, MD—A retired contractor from St. Mary’s County has claimed a $50,000 top prize from the April 11 Pick 5 lottery draw. He visited Lottery headquarters this Thursday, fulfilling a long-held aspiration with numbers he’s cherished for years—his own address.

For a considerable time, the winner used his address as his go-to numbers for the Daily Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5 games. Despite many close calls, he had almost given up hope of matching all five numbers. That changed when he checked the results on the Lottery’s winning numbers phone line the morning after the draw. Initially in disbelief, he confirmed his win multiple times and finally at a local Lottery store, which directed him to claim his prize at the headquarters.

Overjoyed with the win, he and his wife plan to treat their grandchildren to a trip and share the remainder of the winnings with their family. He described the win as a gift that allows them to enhance the lives of their loved ones.

The Wawa convenience store at 23141 Three Notch Road in California, where the winning ticket was purchased, will also receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket.
