CARLSBAD, CA — A motorboat arrived at North Carlsbad City Beach around 11 AM Saturday, where officials report that 15 to 20 migrants disembarked and fled the scene. Captured by video, the migrants were seen escaping in a waiting SUV that quickly departed the area. This event has heightened local concerns regarding border security and the need for immediate action.
The boat sped for the shoreline, narrowly missing swimmers and a young girl collecting seashells on the beach with her mother.
In response to the incident and prior smuggling activities, the mayors of Carlsbad, San Marcos, Vista, and the Deputy Mayor of Oceanside convened a press conference. They called on state and federal authorities to address the ongoing border security issues. The officials emphasized that the apparent lack of consequences for illegal crossers not only perpetuates such incidents but also poses threats to community safety, highlighting the risk of human trafficking involved.
