GOLDEN RING BARRACK, MD – Troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack were dispatched to outer loop Interstate 695, near the Frederick Road ramp, in the early hours of Sunday, April 14, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Initial investigations revealed that while attending to the single-vehicle crash on the ramp, a Toyota Prius collided with the rear of a marked Maryland State Police patrol vehicle. This collision subsequently caused the patrol vehicle to strike another marked Maryland State Police patrol vehicle. Both patrol vehicles had their emergency lights activated at the time of the incident.
The trooper inside the marked patrol vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment and was later discharged. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Prius was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
