Four Teenagers Arrested Following High-Speed Chase in Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY, DE – Delaware State Police apprehended four teenagers after a high-speed pursuit through multiple jurisdictions on Saturday evening. The chase began when a silver Honda CRV with temporary Delaware registration fled from a traffic stop by the Bethany Beach Police Department around 7:21 PM on April 13, 2024.

The vehicle, later identified as stolen within the Dover Police Department’s jurisdiction, was spotted speeding northbound on Coastal Highway. State Troopers initially pursued but discontinued due to safety concerns over the high speeds. Assistance from the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit allowed for continued aerial monitoring until the vehicle crashed near Olive Avenue and the Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach.

The four suspects fled on foot but were quickly captured near the Henlopen Hotel with the aid of the Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach Police Departments. A firearm was found within easy reach inside the vehicle. No citizens were injured during the incident.

All suspects, confirmed to be teenagers, face multiple charges and were transported to Troop 7 for processing. They were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center, with bonds ranging from $12,500 to $17,000.
