WASHINGTON, DC – Camille Ceasar faces charges including assault on a police officer after a dramatic standoff with law enforcement during her eviction from a residence on Cathedral Avenue NW, officials reported. The incident began shortly before noon on Wednesday when U.S. Marshals, attempting to serve an eviction notice, were met with threats of violence from Ceasar.
Upon hearing her threats to shoot, Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene, leading to a declaration of a barricade situation. During the hours-long standoff, Ceasar reportedly brandished and aimed a firearm at officers on two separate occasions. Police later recovered a handgun and multiple ammunition rounds from her apartment.
The standoff concluded with Ceasar being safely apprehended and charged with two counts of assault on a police officer and additional threats to kidnap or injure a person.
