A ten-month-long collaborative investigation, spearheaded by the Linden Police Detective Bureau and supported by detectives from Roselle, Union, and Westfield Police Departments, along with the Essex and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Offices, has culminated in the filing of charges against a Newark man. The charges stem from his alleged involvement in multiple burglaries targeting local businesses.

The individual in question, 36-year-old Teshawn Campbell, faces six counts of third-degree burglary. These charges are accompanied by related accusations of theft and weapons possession. Campbell is specifically accused of targeting seven cellular phone stores in Linden, spanning from May to September of 2023. Over the course of these burglaries, he allegedly made off with merchandise valued at more than $40,000 and inflicted over $13,000 in property damage.

Campbell, who was already detained on unrelated charges, was officially charged in connection with these burglaries on March 19, 2024. He currently remains in the Middlesex County Jail awaiting further legal proceedings.

Linden Police Chief David Hart commented on the case, emphasizing the department’s enduring commitment to combating burglary within the community. “As this case demonstrates, we remain steadfast in our commitment to reduce burglary and pursue those who wreak havoc in our community for as long as necessary,” Hart stated. He also expressed his pride in the dedication exhibited by the detectives involved and gratitude for the continued cooperation among the law enforcement agencies.
