Jackson, NJ – Jackson Township officials have announced that they have closed on a much-anticipated land swap agreement with a private developer after residents and the township felt the existing location would be a problem for the community due to traffic and quality of life concerns.
Mayor Reina stated that, by closing on this property, Jackson Township has eliminated potential development on this land for eternity. Councilman Burnstein added, “Mayor Reina and the entire Council are committed to preserving more open space, and we look forward to working on more such purchases in the near future.”
The property is is located on Leesville Road near Whispering Hills with the closest major intersection at Bennetts Mills Road and Don Connor Boulevard. That intersection is also home to Jackson Memorial High School, Switlik Elementary School, the Goddard School, Jackson Justice Complex, the Jackson Township Police Department, Town Hall and four large retail plazas.
The agreed-upon solution involves a unique land exchange that would relocate the planned complex from Leesville Road to a more suitable location near the Lakewood border, as agreed upon by the township council and the developer of the property.
