Student Arrested for Drug Possession at Sussex Technical High School

GEORGETOWN, DE – A 17-year-old student at Sussex Technical High School was arrested following the discovery of drugs in his vehicle. The incident occurred on the morning of April 9, when the School Resource Officer was alerted by staff about a marijuana odor emanating from a student’s car parked at the school, located at 17099 County Seat Highway.

During a search initiated by the school staff, the student, who was working on his car as part of a class assignment, was found to have marijuana and various drug paraphernalia. Found in the vehicle were approximately 5.79 grams of marijuana, 21 grams of the substance in individual packages, a metal scale, and other paraphernalia related to drug use.

Following the discovery, the student was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia. After being processed at Troop 4, he was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released to a guardian.
