QUEENS, NY – Marcin Pieciak has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Sarah McNally, 41, and criminal possession of a weapon, following a fatal incident at a Maspeth tavern, announced Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. The assault occurred while McNally was working as a bartender, where Pieciak allegedly stabbed her and then inflicted wounds on himself.
District Attorney Katz described the attack as a shocking, unprovoked act that has deeply affected the community and McNally’s family. She affirmed the commitment of her office to ensuring justice through all available means. Pieciak, a 36-year-old Glendale resident, faces a second-degree murder charge and two counts of fourth-degree weapon possession.
He was ordered by Queens Criminal Court Judge Julieta Lozano to reappear in court on April 5, with a potential sentence of 25 years to life if convicted.
The tragic event unfolded on March 30 at around 6:30 p.m. at Ceili House Bar in Maspeth, where after attacking McNally, Pieciak attempted to flee but was detained by a patron until police arrived. Authorities recovered two knives at the scene, and McNally was declared deceased at the hospital. Detective Todd Friedrich of the 104th Queens Detective Squad leads the ongoing investigation.
