16-Year-Old Charged with Shooting in D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC — A significant breakthrough has been made by the D.C. Metro Police Department’s First District, with the arrest of a teenager linked to a recent shooting in Southeast Washington.

The incident happened Friday evening, when the suspect allegedly approached and shot the victim on the 500 block of 13th Street, Southeast, at around 8:56 p.m. The victim, fortunately, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received prompt medical attention at a local hospital.

Yesterday, a 16-year-old male from Southeast, DC, presented himself at the First District Police Station, where he was arrested under a DC Superior Court custody order. He faces charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). Further investigations have indicated prior acquaintance between the victim and the suspect, adding a complex layer to the case.
