BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore City teacher scored a $50,000 third-tier prize in the Powerball drawing on March 30, despite aiming for the much larger jackpot.

The dedicated Powerball participant, who usually buys tickets when the jackpot swells, missed the $1.3 billion jackpot won in Oregon but was thrilled with her significant win. She purchased her winning quick-pick ticket at Royal Farms #057 in Timonium, opting to buy several tickets for that draw.

After repeatedly checking her numbers through the My Lottery Rewards app the following day, she realized she had won. Hesitant to verify the win at Royal Farms due to excitement, she sent her husband to confirm the prize. Upon his confirmation, the joyous news was shared.

The winner intends to use her $50,000 windfall for home renovations, to assist her children financially as needed, and to save a portion.
