MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – A tragic hit and run incident that led to the death of a pedestrian is currently under investigation by the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU). The fatal accident occurred near the intersection of Randolph Road and Kimblewick Drive on the evening of Friday, April 5.

At about 10:12 p.m., officers from the 3rd District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene following reports of a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian. Preliminary investigations have revealed a distressing sequence of events where a white 2023 Honda Odyssey, heading westbound on Randolph Road, veered off the road for undetermined reasons and struck 52-year-old Ronaldo Franzese of Silver Spring, who was on foot.

After being hit by the Honda Odyssey and falling onto the roadway, Franzese was then run over by a white 4-door Acura, which proceeded to flee the scene without offering any assistance. The Acura, believed to be a model from between 2009 to 2012 and possibly a TL, is missing a fender liner and is expected to have further damage on its front end, near the ground. The last known direction of the fleeing Acura was northbound on New Hampshire Avenue, turning west onto Randolph Road.

Ronaldo Franzese was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montgomery County Police are actively seeking any information regarding the incident and the driver of the Acura involved in this fatal collision.
