ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY – Daniel Waxman, a 56-year-old resident of Cedarhurst, New York, has entered a guilty plea for Attempted Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the First Degree. This announcement comes from Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II, following proceedings before the Honorable Kevin J. Russo on April 4, 2024.
The case against Waxman unfolded between May 22, 2023, and May 31, 2023, when an undercover investigator from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, posing as a 14-year-old girl, engaged in online chat conversations with him. Despite being informed of the supposed minor’s age multiple times, Waxman’s messages escalated to sexual content, leading to him arranging a meeting with the intent of engaging in sexual activities. His arrest on May 31, 2023, was the culmination of efforts by the District Attorney’s Office and the Town of Ramapo Police Department as he arrived in Rockland County for the supposed meeting.
District Attorney Walsh lauded the guilty plea, highlighting the defendant’s acknowledgment of his attempt to exploit a minor. Walsh praised the work of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU), led by an experienced prosecutor specialized in handling cases of sexual abuse and human trafficking. The successful operation and prosecution underscore the DA’s office commitment to safeguarding children from online predators and holding offenders accountable.
Executive ADA Dugandzic’s prosecution of the case was commended by Walsh, who also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of law enforcement partners in bringing Waxman to justice. The District Attorney reaffirmed his office’s dedication to combating predatory behaviors and ensuring the safety of minors within the community.
