TRENTON, NJ – In a recent visit to Pediatrics of Morristown, Assemblywoman Aura Dunn underscored the importance of early childhood literacy, witnessing the benefits of the Reach Out and Read program. This initiative, backed by Dr. Rosario Zambrano, aims to bolster family connections and support the cognitive development of children from birth to age 5.
Dr. Zambrano’s practice, which caters to around 700 children within the program’s target age group annually, emphasizes the role of reading in stimulating brain development and language skills. Many of the children benefiting from this program are on Medicaid or lack insurance coverage.
This literacy program, endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, serves as a bridge between healthcare and early education by incorporating book sharing into pediatric care. Assemblywoman Dunn’s engagement with the program highlights a commitment to fostering educational foundations among the youngest in the community.
