POCOMOKE CITY, MD – It’s no April Fool’s joke for Jukira Cordell of Pocomoke City, who claimed a $50,000 prize from the Power Cash scratch-off game. The Eastern Shore resident experienced a stroke of luck after initially finding no success with several tickets from the same game.
Cordell recounted feeling a premonition of good fortune just before discovering the winning “autowin” symbol on her final ticket, leading to her substantial win. Despite the date being April 1st, her victory was confirmed at the store, much to her amusement and relief.
The 21-year-old fast-food employee and winner attributes her luck to a cherished 2011 penny used for scratching off her tickets. She plans to save her winnings, opting for financial security by banking the prize.
The winning ticket came from Duck In, located at 607 Lynnhaven Drive in Pocomoke City, which will be rewarded with a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket.
