TRENTON, NJ – The America First Republicans for New Jersey have declared their intention to challenge the enforcement of the County Line system for the upcoming June 4 Primary election. This move comes after a federal court ruled the system unconstitutional, but its decision was not extended to Republican voters.
Mike Crispi, Co-Chairman of the America First Republicans, emphasized the importance of equality under the law. He criticized the decision by Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, which protects Democrat voters’ rights in their primary but does not afford the same protection to Republicans. According to Crispi, this denies Republicans the equal protection of their constitutional rights.
After dismantling the party line in Democrat primaries, Quraishi said the ruling did not apply to Republican elections.
Crispi further noted Judge Quraishi’s statement that the “public interest clearly favors the protection of constitutional rights,” arguing that Republican rights should be equally safeguarded. The group has begun recruiting plaintiffs for their cause, inviting Republican candidates, committees, and PACs to join in ensuring their constitutional rights are recognized and upheld.
