South Orange Man Arrested for Linden Warehouse Shooting

LINDEN, NJ – The Linden Police Department announced the arrest of Daniel Corprew, a 53-year-old man from South Orange, in relation to a shooting incident that occurred early this morning inside a local warehouse. Corprew faces charges of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, and several weapons-related offenses, including being a certain person prohibited from possessing a weapon.

At around 6:00 a.m. today, Linden Police were called to Maximum Quality Foods at 3351 Tremley Point Rd following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a 43-year-old man from Elizabeth suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim received immediate medical treatment at the scene and was transported to Newark University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Following the incident, Corprew fled the scene but was quickly identified by investigators as the suspect. A warrant for his arrest was issued, leading to his capture by Newark Police Officers during a traffic stop at approximately 1:30 p.m. A stolen handgun was recovered during his arrest.

In addition to facing charges in Linden, Corprew will also confront additional weapons-related charges in Newark. He has been committed to the Essex County Jail, awaiting a court appearance in Superior Court.

Linden Police Chief David Hart commended the quick and efficient response of the officers and detectives involved, as well as the cooperation with law enforcement partners, underscoring the community’s firm stance against violent crime.
