Newark Police Investigating Child Luring Incident

NEWARK, NJ – In a recent statement, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has called for public cooperation to identify a male suspect linked to a luring incident involving a juvenile female student.

The event occurred on March 8, at around 9:06 a.m., as the student was going to Weequahic High School.

The suspect, described as a Black male in his late thirties or forties, around 5’11” tall, with a black beard and a short haircut, followed the student from Osborne Terrace and Nye Avenue.

He propositioned her for sexual activities behind the school in exchange for money and attempted to take photographs of her, also requesting to kiss her hands and feet.

Law enforcement officials are eager for any leads that can aid in swiftly identifying the suspect, who utilized a blue iPhone 13 during the incident. Director Fragé encourages anyone with information to contact the Police Division’s Crime Stopper tip line, assuring confidentiality and the potential for a reward for helpful tips.
