Baltimore, MD – A proactive operation by a Regional Auto Theft Taskforce (RATT) officer led to the arrest of two teenagers involved in a recent carjacking incident. While patrolling south on Argyle Avenue at Mosher Street, the officer identified a stolen Honda Civic through a vehicle recognition hit. Immediate support was requested, including additional units and the Baltimore County Police Aviation Unit.

The vehicle was stopped in the 100 block of McMechen Street, but the driver and passenger attempted to flee on foot. After a brief pursuit, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old male were apprehended. A loaded handgun, discarded by the 16-year-old driver during the chase, was recovered from the scene. The 16-year-old faces charges of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and handgun violations, while the 17-year-old was processed at the Juvenile Justice Center.

Further investigation revealed the Honda Civic was stolen during a carjacking of a food delivery driver in the 500 block of Richwood Avenue on Sunday. Citywide Robbery detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident.
