CHICAGO — A 44-year-old Mexican national, wanted in Mexico for aggravated homicide, was apprehended by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Chicago. The arrest occurred on March 11 during a vehicle stop in Chicago, conducted by deportation officers from ERO Chicago’s juvenile unit.
Assistant Field Office Director Frank Padula emphasized the agency’s commitment to community safety, stating, “We refuse to tolerate individuals who commit crimes, especially acts as egregious as murder. Our dedication to safeguarding our communities remains unwavering, and we will persist in our efforts to protect the public from anyone who poses a threat.”
The fugitive had previously been arrested by U.S. Border Patrol in Eagle Pass, Texas, in September 2005 and again in December 2023. On both occasions, the individual was processed as a voluntary return and sent back to Mexico the same day.
The individual’s latest entry into the United States was made without inspection, admission, or parole by an immigration officer, making their presence in the country unlawful. The arrest marks a significant step in ERO Chicago’s ongoing efforts to remove individuals who pose a threat to public safety from the community.
