Spring Valley Man Faces Murder Charges in Domestic Assault

SPRING VALLEY, NY – Warle Arias-Fernendez was arraigned before Judge Anne B. Bianchi on charges of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A Felony. The arraignment, announced by Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II, occurred following the alleged murder of Carolyn Canela on February 23.

Authorities claim Arias-Fernendez intentionally killed Canela, his partner, in their Spring Valley apartment. District Attorney Walsh emphasized the commitment of his office to securing justice for the victim and her family, praising the thorough investigation conducted by local law enforcement agencies.

Arias-Fernendez was remanded to Rockland County Jail post-arrangement. The case is being prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Kathleen Devlin and Senior Assistant District Attorney Emily McNiff, with significant support from the Spring Valley Police Department, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations, and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
