LAKEWOOD, NJ — On March 12, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that Yisroel Kornik, 33, of Lakewood, has been charged with counterfeiting. This announcement follows a detailed investigation into Kornik’s activities from October 2023 to March 2024, involving the purchase and sale of counterfeit United States postage stamps.
The investigation, a collaboration between the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crime Unit, the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and the United States Postal Inspection Service, revealed that Kornik imported counterfeit stamps from China to sell on online platforms, including Amazon and Walmart. Despite receiving multiple warnings from United States Customs and Border Protection about the counterfeit nature of the stamps, Kornik persisted in his illegal activities.
A court-authorized search of Kornik’s residence led to the seizure of over $10,000 worth of counterfeit stamps. Kornik was arrested without incident and is currently awaiting his first appearance in Ocean County Superior Court.
