Fatal Motorcycle Accident Under Investigation in Stanton

STANTON, DE — A tragic motorcycle accident resulted in one fatality Wednesday afternoon in Stanton, Delaware, according to the Delaware State Police. The incident, involving a collision between a motorcycle and a trailer, led to the death of a 24-year-old man from Claymont.

The collision occurred as a white 2024 GMC Sierra, hauling an empty EBY horse trailer, attempted a U-turn at the intersection of Limestone Road and Tarry Lane. During this maneuver, a gray 2004 Yamaha YZF R1S sportbike, traveling at a high speed, crashed into the trailer’s right side. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, was declared dead at the scene, while the GMC’s 60-year-old driver from Wilmington remained unharmed.

The investigation caused a four-hour road closure as authorities examined the site. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed pending notification of his family.
