Police Arrest Suspect in New Rochelle Train Station Sexual Assault

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A 20-year-old New Rochelle man, Rudy Osbaldo Garril-Lopez, has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault incident at the New Rochelle Train Station. The event occurred on the evening of March 9, 2024, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement.

According to the New Rochelle Police Department, an 18-year-old female victim reported that while crossing the pedestrian bridge from Station Plaza to Burling Lane, she was accosted by a group of four Hispanic males. During the encounter, one of the assailants forcibly placed his hand down the back of her pants before the group fled the scene.

Following an investigation, detectives identified Garril-Lopez as a suspect and detained him in the early hours of March 10, 2024. He faces charges related to the sexual assault, in addition to an outstanding warrant for a domestic assault case dating back to 2022.
