NEW YORK, NY – A distressing assault in Central Park has prompted an investigation by the NYPD’s Manhattan Special Victims Squad. The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 6, around 6:30 PM, involving a 30-year-old female victim. While jogging near 70 West Drive within the park, an unidentified male on a blue Razor scooter approached her from behind.
The assailant, described as being between 20 to 25 years of age, around 6’0” tall, weighing approximately 165 pounds, with a dark complexion, brown eyes, and a medium build, dismounted the scooter, grabbed the victim’s waist from behind, and subjected her to inappropriate physical contact.
Following the assault, the individual fled northbound on West Drive, exiting the park onto West 72 Street and Central Park West. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any physical injuries from the encounter.
The suspect was last observed wearing a black jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black and yellow sneakers, operating a blue Razor scooter. Authorities are actively seeking information to identify and apprehend the perpetrator. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward to assist in the investigation.
