HARRISBURG, PA – Attorney General Michelle Henry has announced the conviction of a Philadelphia man, Felipe L. Santos, for Medicaid fraud and related charges.
Santos was found guilty of falsely claiming to have provided home care services for his mother-in-law while she was actually hospitalized, leading to over $4,200 in fraudulent charges to the Medicaid program.
The verdict came after a two-day trial in Montgomery County, where evidence was presented against Santos for his actions between October 2020 and May 2021.
Santos faces convictions for four counts of Medicaid fraud, four counts of tampering with public records, and theft by deception—all felonies. His sentencing is scheduled for May.
Attorney General Henry emphasized the importance of prosecuting such crimes to uphold the healthcare system’s integrity. The investigation revealed Santos reported providing care during times when his mother-in-law was admitted to Aria-Jefferson Hospital, Frankford Campus, and Temple University Hospital, causing the Philadelphia-based home care agency Help at Home to seek unjust reimbursement from PA Health and Wellness, a Medicaid-funded organization.
