Do You Know Him? Police Seek Suspect in Multiple Burglaries

GAITHERSBURG, MD — The Montgomery County Police Department is calling on the public to aid in identifying a suspect linked to a string of commercial burglaries occurring during the first week of March 2024. The incidents, affecting businesses in the vicinity of Redland Road, Montgomery Village Avenue, and Stedwick Road, have prompted detectives from the 6th District Investigative Section to release a photograph of the alleged perpetrator.

The suspect’s crime spree began on Sunday, March 3, around 10:58 p.m., with an attempt to damage an ATM at a Bank of America on Rendland Road using a rock. Shortly thereafter, the individual forcibly entered the Spice Lanka restaurant, taking an unspecified sum of money before targeting Derwood Beer and Wine, though leaving without stealing any property.

The series of burglaries continued on Wednesday, March 6, when the suspect broke into Vida Hair Salon, again stealing money from the cash register. The criminal activity escalated on Thursday, March 7, with forced entries into Dollar Tree, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Ledo’s Pizza, The Joint Chiropractic, and Metro PCS. From Moe’s Southwest Grill, the suspect again absconded with an undisclosed amount of money.

Surveillance efforts and consultations with affected business owners are ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the thefts. The suspect is described as an adult Black male, about 5-feet 10-inches tall, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The police department urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to come forward to assist in their investigation.
