Fatal Shooting in Capitol Heights Leaves 41-Year-Old Dead, Reward Offered for Suspect

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on the evening of March 5th, 2024. The incident claimed the life of 41-year-old Airmus Dillard from Capitol Heights. In connection with this case, authorities have announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.

Responding to reports of a shooting at around 6:25 pm, officers arrived at the 300 block of Cedarleaf Avenue in the unincorporated area of Capitol Heights. They discovered Dillard suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries hours later.

Investigators are diligently working to uncover the motive behind the shooting and to identify any suspects involved. Early findings suggest that the crime was not random. The Prince George’s County Police urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation.
