Three Additional Suspects Charged in DuVal High School Student's Murder

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has announced the arrest and charging of three individuals in the murder of Jayda Medrano-Moore, a 16-year-old student from DuVal High School in Lanham. The incident occurred last September, and the new arrests bring the total number of suspects in custody to four.

Ramon Richardson, 18, of Lanham, Cameron Anderson, 18, of Landover, and a 17-year-old male from Lanham, charged as an adult, have been implicated in the fatal shooting of Medrano-Moore on September 11, 2023. The shooting took place in the 9800 block of Palamar Drive at around 3:45 pm, where officers found the victim with a gunshot wound. She later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital.

The investigation suggests the shooting resulted from an altercation between two groups with an ongoing dispute. Medrano-Moore was reportedly trying to intervene in the fight when she was shot. The police used various investigative methods to identify the suspects, leading to their morning arrest.

Richardson and Anderson face charges of first and second-degree murder, among other related charges, while the juvenile suspect is charged with first-degree murder. This follows the previous arrest of a 17-year-old male in connection with Medrano-Moore’s death shortly after the incident.
