ORANGE COUNTY, NY — District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced on February 27, 2024, that Angelica “Jelly” Rodriguez, a 40-year-old resident of Middletown, received a ten-year prison sentence followed by three years of post-release supervision. This sentence was handed down by the Honorable Craig Stephen Brown in the Orange County Court. Rodriguez had previously admitted guilt to charges including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Conspiracy in the Second and Fourth Degrees.

The conviction stems from a two-year investigation led by the City of Middletown Police Department, which focused on cocaine trafficking activities by Rodriguez and her associates. The investigation expanded with support from the Orange County Drug Taskforce, a collaboration between various law enforcement agencies under the guidance of the District Attorney’s Office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The breakthrough in the case came when court-ordered eavesdropping was approved, revealing a wider narcotics conspiracy linked to Rodriguez. The investigation also implicated Michael Rodriguez in supplying cocaine for distribution in Middletown and the City of Port Jervis, along with possession of illegal firearms. A significant drug and asset seizure was made at Michael Rodriguez’s residence in July 2023, marking a pivotal moment in the case.

District Attorney Hoovler emphasized the importance of disrupting narcotics supply chains through comprehensive investigations and cooperation between law enforcement agencies. He praised the collaborative effort that led to Rodriguez’s conviction, underscoring the commitment of his office and its partners to combating drug trafficking in the community.
