BRONX, NY — Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that Whalesca Castillo, 49, of the Bronx, was sentenced to four to eight years in prison for her role in the death of one woman and the serious injury of another through illegal cosmetic procedures. The sentencing took place today by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Tara Collins.

Castillo had pleaded guilty to second-degree Manslaughter and second-degree Assault on December 18, 2023, with both sentences set to run concurrently.

The case centers around unauthorized silicone injections administered by Castillo in her home. On June 17, 2018, Castillo injected Lesbia Ayala, 48, with silicone to enhance her buttocks, a procedure that led to Ayala’s death from systemic silicone embolism syndrome.

Another victim, Marisol King, then 39, underwent a similar procedure on February 10, 2018, resulting in severe infections, pain, and the necessity for surgical intervention.

District Attorney Clark emphasized the dangers of undergoing unlicensed cosmetic procedures, highlighting the tragic outcomes of these cases as a stark warning against such practices.
