Hackensack, NJ – Christopher Baboolal of Hackensack has been arrested on several charges stemming from a criminal investigation involving a hostage situation.

On February 21, 2024, Hackensack Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on Poplar Avenue following reports of an individual being held at gunpoint. The suspect was encountered on the scene, and the victim was located by a neighboring police department, unharmed and later taken to Police Headquarters for further investigation.

The arrest of Christopher Baboolal occurred on the same day, without incident, thanks to the efforts of patrol officers, Detective Stanislav Tovbin, and the Detective Bureau. Baboolal faces charges including second-degree terroristic threats, possession of a firearm without a permit, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a large capacity magazine, criminal restraint, and aggravated criminal sexual contact. A firearm and a large capacity magazine were seized at the scene.

Following his arrest, Baboolal was processed and taken to the Bergen County Jail, awaiting his initial court appearance in Hackensack’s Central Judicial Processing court.
