Annapolis Officer Injured in Assault and Vehicle Theft Incident; Suspect Arrested

Annapolis, MD – An Annapolis patrol officer was injured on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, during an encounter with a suspect driving a vehicle with stolen registration plates. The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. at the Liberty gas station on 2042 West Street when the officer attempted to approach the vehicle.

As the officer neared, the driver, later identified as 24-year-old T’reiko E’sean Medley of Annapolis, quickly reversed the vehicle, striking the officer with the open driver’s side door and dragging her several feet before she fell to the ground. Medley then fled the scene, hitting another parked vehicle as he left. Despite an immediate search, officers were initially unable to locate Medley or the white Infinity he was driving.

Medley was subsequently identified through video evidence and was apprehended in the early hours of February 22 in Baltimore. At the time of his arrest, Medley had several unrelated arrest warrants. The Infinity was located and impounded near the arrest site.

The injured officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. The incident underscores the risks law enforcement officers face and the importance of community support in apprehending suspects.
