Allentown Shooting Leaves Four Injured; Suspect in Custody

Allentown, PA – District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan announced the arrest of Axel Yadiel Suarez-Vidal following a shooting incident on February 20, 2024, in Allentown, which resulted in four people being injured. The event occurred at approximately 6:47 p.m. at 1837 West Turner St., where officers found that multiple victims had already been transported to the hospital by private vehicles before police arrival.

The victims, comprising three adult females and one adult male, all sustained gunshot wounds but are expected to make full recoveries. The Allentown Police Department swiftly initiated an investigation, which is still ongoing. It was clarified that there was a brief lockdown at Muhlenberg College as a precautionary measure, but it has been confirmed that there is no link to the college nor any threat to its community.

Investigative efforts led to the identification of Suarez-Vidal as the shooter. He reportedly fired into a crowd outside the home on Turner Street. Suarez-Vidal faces charges including four counts of Criminal Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and Reckless Endangering. He surrendered to authorities on the morning of February 21, 2024, and is currently being held in custody, awaiting arraignment at the Lehigh County Central Booking Center. At this stage, police are not searching for any additional suspects related to this case.
