North Jersey Valentine's Day Hit and Run Suspect Arrested

Newark, NJ – Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II announced the arrest of Dhkir Robinson for his involvement in a Nutley hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of one pedestrian and serious injury to another. Robinson, 42, faces charges including Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, Operating a Motor Vehicle Resulting in Death With a Suspended License, and Endangering an Injured Victim.

The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on February 14, when police were alerted to a collision on the 100 block of Milton Avenue in Nutley, near the Garden State Parkway overpass. Wiston Perlaza, 22, from Paterson, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital with non-fatal injuries.
