Philadelphia, PA – Jacob Montague, a 38-year-old from Wilson, North Carolina, has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for his crimes involving the attempted kidnapping and actual kidnapping of two young women in Center City Philadelphia in November 2020.

The incidents began on November 1, 2020, when Montague approached a woman, brandishing a knife and attempting to kidnap her. The quick-thinking victim called 911, causing Montague to flee. However, he returned the next day and successfully kidnapped another woman while threatening her with a knife, only to be thwarted by the intervention of brave civilians who rescued the victim and ensured Montague’s arrest. The victim of this attack suffered injuries requiring multiple stitches.

Montague pleaded guilty to both the attempted kidnapping and the kidnapping on April 10, 2023. U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero emphasized the danger Montague posed to public safety, stating that his actions warranted his removal from the community. The sentence reflects a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies to address and prevent violent crimes.
