Two School Crossing Guards Injured in Spring Hill Hit and Run

Two school crossing guards were struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Spring Hill, Hernando County. The accident occurred just after 4 p.m., on Valentine’s Day, prompting multiple emergency calls to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses reported a tan sedan driven erratically near Deltona Boulevard and Northcliffe Boulevard. The vehicle hit the crossing guards, who were positioned on the grassy median, before the driver attempted to escape southbound. In the process, the sedan also collided with a concrete drainage cover, rendering the car inoperable a few blocks from the scene. The driver, identified as Robert Noack, attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by deputies, despite his denial of involvement.

The Florida Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation, with further details on the crash and Noack’s arrest available through Sergeant Steve Gaskins’ communication.

The injured crossing guards have been identified as Nicholas Gallicchio, 52, of Spring Hill, who suffered minor injuries, and Donald Jenkins, 82, of Weeki Wachee, whose injuries are serious. Both were transported to a local trauma center for treatment.
