A violent incident occurred at Colerain High School in Colerain, Ohio, last month, where a high school teacher suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a 16-year-old student. The attack, which took place in the teacher’s classroom on January 4 around 2:18 p.m., led to the teacher requiring urgent medical attention and a portion of her skull removed to prevent brain damage due to swelling.
The Colerain Police Department responded to the assault report, with additional support from the Colerain Township Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services. The victim was immediately transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
The investigation by police led to the arrest of the 16-year-old student on charges of felonious assault. While the student’s name has not been disclosed, it was noted that they would face both criminal charges and disciplinary action from the school district. After receiving medical treatment, the assailant was placed in the custody of the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers confirmed the severity of the assault, noting the teacher was repeatedly punched in the head by the student.
