Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Suspects in Silver Spring Mall Robbery

SILVER SPRING, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects involved in a strong-arm robbery at Ellsworth Place Mall.

The incident occurred on Thursday, February 1, at around 3 p.m. when two suspects entered the Lela Mobile store in the mall to drop off a phone for repair.

After the repair was completed and payment was requested, one suspect leaped over the counter, seized the phone, and assaulted an employee who attempted to intervene. The second suspect then stole additional property from the store. Both fled the scene with the stolen items.

Authorities have obtained surveillance footage showing the suspects and a person of interest seen with them inside the mall.

The first suspect is described as a Black male, aged 16 to 20, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 115 pounds, and wearing a dark-colored jacket and black pants. The second suspect is similarly described but was wearing a black jacket, a red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a knit hat. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
