Casino Bomb Hoax Suspect Arrested

Schenectady, NY – An arrest has been made in connection with a bomb threat at Rivers Casino, which led to an evacuation early this morning.

At approximately 2:08 AM, Schenectady Police Department officers responded to the casino after a bomb threat was called into staff.

The gaming floor and The Landing Hotel were evacuated, and police dogs specialized in detecting explosives were deployed to search the premises. By 4:00 AM, authorities confirmed the property was safe, allowing staff and guests to return.

Investigations traced the false threat to 19-year-old Shenel M. Rexha of Amsterdam, NY, who was arrested with the help of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department. Rexha is charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Second Degree, a Class E Felony. The Schenectady Police Department expressed gratitude towards the casino security staff and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance, confirming that the casino is operating normally with no credible threats found.
