NEW YORK – The New York City Police Department is investigating after a man was beaten with a metal pipe during an argument in Chinatown.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday, January 30, at around 3:40 a.m. The confrontation began in front of 83 Baxter Street when a 36-year-old male victim was involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual. The altercation escalated, resulting in the suspect striking the victim multiple times in the head with a metal pipe. Following the attack, the assailant was observed fleeing northbound on Baxter Street by foot.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, transporting the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was listed in stable condition.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
