Portland, OR – Portland Police Bureau (PPB) has identified former professional wrestler William Albert Haynes, Jr., 70, of Portland, as the suspect in the homicide investigation following a deadly shooting in the Lents Neighborhood. The victim, Janette Becraft, 85, was Haynes’ wife.
Currently, Haynes is under police custody at a local hospital, receiving treatment for a medical condition that is not related to the homicide or his interaction with law enforcement officials. He is expected to be transferred to jail once medically cleared, which could take several days. Charges against Haynes will be announced following his booking.
The PPB has committed to releasing additional information through news releases as the investigation progresses.
The shooting incident, which claimed the life of Janette Becraft, has been officially ruled a homicide by gunshot wound by the Medical Examiner. Becraft’s family, while requesting privacy, has released a photo of her to the public.
