Henderson, MD – A barn fire on Will Smith Road in Henderson is currently under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal. The incident, which occurred on February 11, 2024, at approximately 10:51 A.M., involved a 30′ x 50′ structure owned by Holly Dorr.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths reported in the blaze that caused an estimated $5,000 in damages to the structure. The barn was not equipped with smoke alarms or fire sprinkler systems, and no arrests have been made in connection to the incident.
The Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene, with 12 firefighters bringing the fire under control within 10 minutes. A passerby initially discovered the fire, which originated from the interior of the barn. The preliminary investigation points to an accidental cause, specifically an electrical malfunction involving receptacle wiring.
