Union County, NJ – In a significant show of support, Donald Trump emerged as the preferred candidate for the Union County Republicans in the run-up to the June primary, marking his second consecutive win in New Jersey GOP county endorsements.
Trump clinched the endorsement with 152 votes, decisively defeating Nikki Haley, who garnered 67 votes. This 69% to 31% victory underscores Trump’s continued influence within the Republican Party’s base.
The endorsement came after a gathering of Union County Republicans on Thursday evening, where Trump’s dominance was evident against Haley. This win follows a similar triumph in Hunterdon County, solidifying his standing within the state’s GOP circles.
The victory was a blow for ‘Never Trump’ Republicans who have dominated media coverage over the years, realizing now that the majority of their base disagrees with them.
Union County is a predominantly Democrat county where Republicans are often more moderate than traditional Republicans.
