Salisbury Commercial Building Fire Ruled Accidental

Salisbury, MD – A fire that broke out at a commercial building on Nanticoke Road in Salisbury has been ruled accidental, according to a bulletin from the Maryland State Fire Marshal. The incident occurred on the evening of February 10, at approximately 8:21 PM, involving a structure that housed both a laundromat and a car wash.

The property, owned by David Mitchell Wyatt, sustained significant damage with the estimated loss totaling $600,000, including both the structure and its contents. Authorities confirmed there were no injuries or deaths as a result of the fire.

Investigations revealed that smoke alarms and fire sprinkler systems were not present in the building at the time of the fire. The Salisbury Fire Department responded promptly to the scene, with 30 firefighters managing to control the blaze within 30 minutes of their arrival.

The fire was discovered by customers in the laundromat and has been traced back to the exhaust system of the commercial clothes dryers. A preliminary investigation points to an unspecified failure within the commercial gas dryer exhaust system as the cause of the fire, emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance and safety checks in such facilities.
