Four Firefighters Injured After Engine Involved in Rollover Crash

Newark, DE – A crash involving an Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company fire truck occurred on Friday at approximately 10:55 PM on Christina Parkway (SR 4), east of Elkton Road, Newark Police reported. The fire truck, which was not responding to an emergency at the time, rolled onto its side while making a turn onto eastbound Christina Parkway, blocking the roadway.

The incident resulted in injuries to all four firefighters aboard the vehicle. They were transported to a local hospital, with three suffering minor injuries and one sustaining a serious injury. The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control was on site to assist with cleanup efforts.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. The eastbound lanes of Christina Parkway were closed for around four hours for investigation and vehicle removal.
