Jackson Township Announces Major Expansion of South New Prospect Road

Jackson, NJ – Mayor Michael Reina, alongside the Jackson Township Council, has unveiled plans for a significant road improvement project on South New Prospect Road slated for advancement in 2024. Aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing safety measures, the project will transform the currently bustling two-lane road into a three-lane thoroughfare.

The proposed expansion includes a design for one lane heading northbound and two lanes southbound to better manage the increasing vehicular flow. This initiative follows a productive meeting between Mayor Reina, Council President Jennifer Kuhn, Councilman Mordechai Burnstein, and Ocean County Commissioner Frank Sadeghi, alongside other county professionals. The discussions highlighted the county’s support for addressing the township’s traffic concerns.

Councilman Burnstein said. ”This is a game changer for the quality of life of both residents and commuters and will help increase the safety of all.”

South New Prospect Road has evolved over the past decade into a crucial artery for Jackson, linking Howell, Lakewood, and Jackson to County Line Road and the northeastern sectors of the township, including the Brookwood developments. This road is instrumental in facilitating smoother travel between these areas.

Council President Kuhn thanked Mayor Reina for his leadership.

“Under Mayor Reina’s leadership, Ocean County is listening and responding to Jackson’s needs” she added.

Mayor Reina added, “Over the coming weeks the Township will be following up with County officials on other planned improvements and upgrades and will publicize them when available.”

Councilman Burnstein lauded the project as a transformative step for enhancing the quality of life for both residents and commuters, emphasizing its expected positive impact on safety. Council President Kuhn expressed gratitude towards Mayor Reina for his pivotal role in garnering county support for Jackson’s infrastructure needs.

Mayor Reina conveyed that the township would continue engaging with county officials regarding additional planned improvements and upgrades, promising to share further details with the public as they become available.
